22ng August & 5th Sept Meetings cancelled

Hi All,

We have had to cancel 2 of our scheduled meetings, Carter Hill (22nd August) and Finningly (5th September). We apologise for the inconvenience.

** Carter Hill Statement **

The ECMX club has decided to withdraw any use of the Carter Hill track as a result of an unprofessional deal made between YMSA and the landowner of Benniworth Basin.

The Benniworth track was in development by Mark Reville of ECMX club and Andy Stones of the Louth club with an agreement between the two and the landowner that they would be the only clubs to run at the track. This agreement was put in place with an understanding of the time and cost involved in developing such a track - from the use of plant and machinery right through to the time put into designing and implementing the circuit, hence the arrangement for exclusivity of the use of the track for the clubs.

With this in mind, and going against the general club rules, YMSA directly made communication with the landowner and made a separate agreement without communicating with ECMX club or Louth club. The agreement, which is going ahead, currently allows the YMSA to use Benniworth at the same track fee as the two local clubs, but without putting any money into the development of the track. Given the personal time and investment by Mark Reville and Andy Stones of ECMX and Louth clubs, it is felt that YMSA are therefore simply being able to walk away with clear profits from holding a meeting at the track. The event at the track would also become direct competition for the local clubs that developed it. This is obviously disappointing, as it is detrimental to the ECMX and Louth club that require the local support to continue running and developing facilities like Benniworth Basin to serve the local area.

YMSA's badly arranged agreement shows a lack of respect for the ECMX club and Louth club who were developing the track for the benefit of its riders. This arrangement has also been made despite the fact Mark Reville had previously discussed acquiring the use of YSMA’s Sherwood Forest track for ECMX, to which Mark was declined as they feared he would try and 'get in with the landowner'.

This agreement made by YSMA goes against Mark Reville, ECMX and Louth Club’s personal commitment to designing and developing tracks in the area for the growth and benefit of local riders and therefore Mark Reville has decided to withdraw from the development of other tracks, including Carter Hill, which could result in a similar scenario. It is understood that many of you were looking forward to riding the new track, but due to the actions of the YMSA, along with the financial loss to date for Mark, the club has decided to withdraw from any further involvement with third party tracks at this time and can only apologise for this situation, which is completely out of the club’s control.
